All the information we now consume through the internet, TV, radio and juts walking around makes it hard for us to remember things that are really important. We are dealing with information overload. Just think about how many passwords you have to remember for all the websites you go to. So here are some memory tips to help you remember stuff: After you meet someone new, repeat their name back to them by saying something like “Nice to meet you Bill”  Remember things in chunks – don’t remember one number at at time cluster the numbers in chunks of three or four. And always remember to sleep and exercise more and take those omega 3s.  Listen right now to hear Dr Fitness’ tips. Personal Safety Expert and Revat Fitness Trainer Ingo Weigel Explains Self Defense For Modern Times

Monday, August 31st, 2009 6:02 am

On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy closed the show with personal safety expert Ingo Weigel author of the book Self Defense for Modern Times. He teaches the Revat Fitness technique. He shared some of his best self defense tips for women or the Fat Guy. Some people think that women need different self defense techniques than men – Ingo disagrees.  Ingo thinks that surviving crime requires more mental toughness than physical abilities. Size, weight, conditioning and upper body strength don’t make the difference. Ingo says that lady like self defense and anti-crime gadgets offer unrealistic guarantees. His tips were great. Number 1 – never go to the floor or ground to fight back. Number 2 – never start wrestling or grappling with your attacker. Number 3 – target groin, eyes throat. Remember you only have a couple of seconds to react and your attacker is probably stronger than you so be proactive, look the guy in the eyes  and take charge once you know a confrontation is inevitable. To learn more please go to his websites www.revatfitness.com or www.selfdefenseformoderntimes.com

Thursday, August 27th, 2009 6:53 pm

In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy explain why you should drink more water. While it is debatable exactly how much water you should be drinking each day – it is true that a lot of people are walking around suffering from dehydration without really knowing it.  You don’t want to get dehydrated, and a lot of times when you think you’re hungry you are actually thirsty. So drink some water instead of raiding the pantry or vending machine. Dr Fitness loves to squeeze a little lime or lemon in his water to give it some flavor. He also dilutes his sodas with water as well. Listen right now to hear Dr Fitness’ tips. How To Stop Emotional Eating

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009 6:44 pm

In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy share secrets how to stop emotional eating. Stress is a huge trigger when it comes to emotional eating. So the trick is to be aware when you are under stress and instead of reaching for food to make yourself feel better you reach for something else. I know easier said than done. But awareness is the first step to fixing a problem. You will have to reprogram your brain to not connect eating with making relieving stress. You must connect food only with being the fuel you need to live. Food should not be the thing that makes you feel good after a bad day or the thing that you reward yourself  with after a success.  Listen right now to hear Dr Fitness’ tips.
